so i know i'm a newbie to this whole scene, but one of the first names that's jumping out at me is MARC JACOBS. just so happens he's also considered one of the only relevant male american designers. my favorite art of any medium can't be confined to any one style, and jacobs embodies that. he's all over the place from multi-colors to patterns to simple. and it seems to me he could be worn anywhere - from a night out to the street. his mens' shit is amazing, and he's every bit as nice in the ladies' department. very creative. above my head actually. but that's what's brilliant about him - his stuff is gorgeous to the trained eye as well as the untrained. loves it.
